BERLIN: Germany wants to see lawmakers in Catalonia's regional assembly agree to form a government, since only then progress can be made on reaching a political solution to the region's stand-off with Madrid in the aftermath of last year's unofficial secession referendum, a foreign ministry spokesman said on Friday.
Government spokespeople told a regular news conference that the government had no role to play in the "judicial matter" of the possible extradition of former Catalan President Carles Puigdemont, who was granted bail by a German court on Thursday.
