ABBOTTABAD: Ali Khan and Sardar Ghulam Nabi of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf became the new Nazim and Naib Nazim of District Abbottabad respectively.
After de-seat of former district Nazim and naib Nazim along with 20 councilors ECP conducted new elections for both seats where Ali Khan secured 45 votes and his opponent Haji Sidique of PML-N got only 31 votes.
The results remained same for the Naib Nazim where Sardar Waqar Nabi of PTI secured 45 votes and PML-N candidate Naheed Awan 31. In the House of district council, PTI had 45 seats in district council Abbottabad and PML-N had 32, the winning candidate needed only 39 votes to form district government, Ali Khan was the strong candidate for PTI district Nazim candidate.
Earlier in the year 2016 Nazriati group of PTI comprising 17 members with the support PML-N formed district government Abbottabad later District Nazim along with 20 councilors were de-seated by the apex court.
At that time Ali Khan was the PTI candidate for district Nazim slot. On the occasion, a large number of PTI workers, parliamentarians and provincial ministers from city were present at district council office to celebrate the victor of PTI.
