Afridi says he won’t play IPL even if they call him

Comparing Pakistan Super League to the neighboring country's own league, veteran Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi has said that he would not play Indian Premier League (IPL) even if they call him.

While talking to the media, Afridi said, “Even if they call me, I won’t go to the IPL. My PSL is the biggest and there will be a time that it will leave the IPL behind. I am enjoying the PSL, I don’t have any need for the IPL. I’m not interested in it and never was.”

Former captain of Pakistan has been making headlines after he recently tweeted about Indian brutalities in held-Kashmir. When asked about his stance on the issue, he said, “I firmly stand by what I said earlier about what is happening in Occupied Kashmir.”

He further said that Indians love Pakistani cricket and players but it is Indian media that, like always, is playing a negative role. “I spoke against India because of its involvement in human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir, as Indian forces have killed innocent Kashmiris in the valley in last few days,” he further said. Afridi runs a foundation and is vocal about many issues, be it in Kashmir or any other place in the world.

Responding to the Indian media’s claims that he is an agent of ISI, Afridi said that if he wasn’t a cricketer, he’d be in Pakistan Army. “I am proud of what our forces are doing and I am also a soldier of Pakistan army.”

Afridi drew ire of the Indian cricketers, stars and media when he tweeted on Tuesday condemning the Indian atrocities in Occupied Kashmir.
