Colgate-Palmolive Pakistan to acquire P&G's Port Qasim assets
- The company has entered into an asset purchase agreement with P&G
Colgate-Palmolive (Pakistan) Limited (COLG) said on Wednesday it had signed an asset purchase agreement with Procter & Gamble Pakistan (Private) Limited to acquire land, a manufacturing facility and related assets at Port Qasim, Karachi.
“We are pleased to announce that the company has entered into an asset purchase agreement with Procter & Gamble Pakistan (Private) Limited on October 28, 2026,” read the notice.
The transaction is subject to approval from the Competition Commission of Pakistan, the company said in its filing to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX).
Last year, P&G announced its decision to discontinue its business operations in Pakistan as part of a global restructuring program.
This involved winding down the manufacturing and commercial activities of P&G Pakistan and Gillette Pakistan Ltd., and transitioning to a third-party distributor model to continue serving consumers from its other regional operations.
This decision was influenced by P&G’s global efforts to accelerate growth and value creation, which included cutting 7,000 non-manufacturing jobs globally and exiting certain categories and brands in individual markets.
In May, as part of its wind-down, P&G (Pakistan) Limited announced plans to sell its land, manufacturing facility, and related assets at Port Qasim, Karachi, to Colgate-Palmolive (Pakistan) Limited.
COLG was set up in 1977 as a public limited company by the name National Detergents Limited.
It was renamed to what it is now in 1990 when it entered a Participation Agreement with Colgate-Palmolive Company, USA. The company manufactures and sells detergents, personal care and other related products.
