TOKYO: Tokyo stocks opened higher on Thursday as fears of a US-China trade war receded and the yen stayed relatively lower against the dollar.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index rose 1.18 percent or 251.04 points to 21,570.59 in early trade, while the broader Topix index was up 0.87 percent or 14.77 points at 1,720.90.
