Experts suggest immediate cultivation of sweet potato

FAISALABAD: Agriculture experts have advised growers to immediately start cultivation of sweet potato (shakar qandi) for bumper yield.

A Spokesman for the Agriculture (Extension) Department said here on Tuesday that sweet potato is used largely in Pakistan because it is a rich source of proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals.

Farmers should cultivate approved varieties of sweet potato over maximum space because its production not only plays a vital role in meeting food requirements of people but also helps growers in mitigating their financial issues, he added.
