Radio Pakistan’s role in promotion of education, regional languages commendable: CM
GILGIT: Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan, Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman here Tuesday highly lauded the role of Radio Pakistan in promotion of quality education and regional languages besides providing quality entertainment and information services to people since its establishment.
He was addressing an impressive function as chief guest arranged in connection with 39th birth anniversary of Radio Pakistan at Gilgit station, which was celebrated with immense enthusiasm. Provincial Ministers, Government officials, literary personalities including poets, artists and elders of the area attended the event.
In his key note address, the Chief Minister said Radio Pakistan was a national institution, which are playing significant role in promotion of quality education and providing authentic information besides entertainment faculties to its listeners even in far flung and remote areas over the years in the country.
The CM said no one can ignore the constructive role playing by the national broadcaster in the protection of the Ideology of Pakistan. “Radio Pakistan had provided platform to poets, drama writers, artists, musicians and literary personalities to shine,” he said, adding Radio Pakistan’s positive role in promotion of regional languages in the country was highly praised worthy.
Chief Minister said request for increasing the power Radio Pakistan Gilgit’s transmitter and bringing further improvement in FM Channel has been made to relevant authorities so that nefarious propaganda from across eastern border could be effectively countered.
“My Government is making special focus on addressing financial problems of artists’ community and a monthly stipend of Rs13000 was approved for each 200 artists and writers of Gilgit Baltistan.”
In the first phase, he said, conference rooms were setup in government departments of Gilgit Baltistan and construction of auditorium would be completed in second phase.
A state of the art auditorium would be established in Radio Pakistan Gilgit station and an electricity supply line would be provided to it within a week so that it could continue its transmission without any disruption. The Chief Minister assured every possible help and support to the management of Radio Pakistan.
