ISLAMABAD: Advisor to Prime Minister on Finance, Economic Affairs and Revenue, Miftah Ismail on Monday urged the provinces to focus on building small dams and development projects to facilitate the people.

Construction of small reservoirs was imperative to avoid water shortage in the country, he said while talking to a private news channel.

He said that gas and electricity loadshedding could be tolerated but water shortage could not be avoided, he added.

Advisor said that health and education was the subject of provinces after the 18th Amendment.

There was a need to have a uniform system in the curriculum of education across the country, he said.

To a question he said the government was working to bring Federally Administered Tribal Areas into the main stream.

He said that the credit goes to Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), government for constructing road networks in Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Miftah Ismail said previous governments could not focus on development projects in far flung areas.

To another question he said Imran Khan could not initiate any water reservoir projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhawa areas.

He added that construction of dams was most essential for the country.

Replying to a question he said all out efforts would be made to bring GDP to 6 percent.
