MULTAN: The Punjab government gave interest free loans to 314,000 farmers in the province with an objective to promote agriculture sector and provide relief to the farming community.
According to assistant director agriculture information Naveed Asmat Kohloon, the Khadim-e-Punjab Kissan Package was heading forward with a rapid pace. Recently, the government has enhanced the credit limit to farmers even having 50 acres, he said.
Due to the different measures taken by the Punjab government, the growth rate in agriculture sector is being observed at 5.75 percent and it was mainly due to the credit schemes of the Punjab government, he said.
Khareef crops, loan amount Rs 40,000 is being provided against one acre, however the amount is Rs 25000 for Rabi crops, he said.
Farmers could get them register at land record center along with different particulars including of identification card, mobile number and land details, he added. Similarly, for further information, the farmers could contact at 0800-15000 and 0800-29000. The government would also extending information through smart phones.
