FAISALABAD: Agriculture department has released the schedule for cotton cultivation in Punjab. A spokesman of agriculture department said here Monday that the government should cultivate approved varieties of BT Cotton to get bumper produce.
He said that farmers of districts Rahim Yar Khan, Rajanpur, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, Muzaffar Garh, Multan, Khanewal, Vehari, Lodharan and Bahawal Nagar should cultivate cotton by May 31 whereas most suitable time of cotton cultivation in irrigated areas is upto April 30.
However,in other parts of the province growers can cultivate cotton by May 15,he said,adding that NIAB-777,NIAB-111,NIAB-846,NIBGE-2,CIM-534, CIM-446, CIM-496, CIM-473, CIM-499, CIM-554,MNH-786,FH-901 and BH-160 are among approved varieties.
