SSP bans consumption of mainpuri, gutka by policemen

HYDERABAD: The SSP Hyderabad Peer Muhammad Shah has banned consumption of mainpuri and gutka by policemen.

The police spokesman Mazharul Haq Shani informed here Friday that a notification was issued on Thursday and its copy had also been put on notice boards in all the police stations.

"If anyone is found in such dirty practice will be dealt with departmentally," reads the notification.

The directives also apply to the traffic police and the police headquarters, the spokesman told.

Separately, SSP Shah suspended 3 policemen including Sub Inspector Siddiq Lakho, Assistant Sub Inspector Razzak and constable Sher Muhammad for their alleged connivance in illegal sale of mainpuri.

The spokesman informed that on SSP's directives the SP City Zahida Parveen raided a place in the limits of Hatri police station and arrested a man involved in the illegal business.

He told that the arrested suspect revealed during the investigation that he ran the illegal business in collusion with the 3 policeman.
