The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday ordered Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government to immediately transfer Inspector General Police (IGP) Nawabzada Akbar Khan Hoti. According to the sources, the ECP had received a number of complaints regarding Hoti that several of his close associates were candidates in the upcoming elections. Taking notice of these complaints, the ECP ordered the provincial government to replace the IG immediately.
The Director-General (Elections) Syed Sher Afgan directed the Secretary to the Establishment Division to replace IG of KPK because six of his cousins were election candidates. "The list of his relatives was also faxed to you." "In the backdrop, I have been directed to request you to kindly issue necessary directions for immediate replacement of the Inspector General (Police) of KPK with a suitable person of established neutrality. For the purpose, Khalid Masood, Additional Inspector General (Police) KPK must be considered keeping in view his seniority and reputation. A compliance report in this regard may be sent to this office within three days for placing the same before the Election Commission."
