Public’s thumbs will deliver votes, not the umpire’s finger: Nawaz Sharif

Taking a jibe at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Tuesday that the public's thumbs will deliver votes and not the umpire's finger.
Addressing the media outside the accountability court, Sharif referred to PTI chief's umpire reference and said that he believes in the nations' thumbs. He further said that he was not one to take signals and everyone knew that.
Sharif along with his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar appeared before an accountability court pertaining to corruption references file by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

As the hearing commenced, Wajid Zia, who headed the Joint Investigation Team after the Panama Papers revealed the Sharif's name, resumed recording his testimonies in Avenfield reference, local media reported.
Zia in his testimony said that the documents submitted by Maryam and her brothers Hussain and Hassan Nawaz during the investigation were tempered and forged.
Last week, Judge Muhammad Bashir had dismissed an exemption plea by Sharif and Maryam. The duo had requested a seven day exemption from the court proceedings as they had to visit Sharif's ailing wife Kulsoom in London.
The Sharif family have been accused in Al-Azizia Steel Mills,Flagship Investment Ltd, and Avenfield properties of London.
