MULTAN: Punjab Governor Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana has said that women were excelling in all fields of life including medicines, engineering, information technology, teaching, aviation etc and playing their role for progress and prosperity of the country.

Addressing the second convocation of Women University at Mattital Campus here on Monday, Malik Rafique Rajwana said that around 90 per cent of gold medals in every convocation were clinched by female students.

"You are our future. You will be our leaders and you will lead the country," he said adding that dream of progress and prosperity of the country had materialised.

Referring to different development projects especially in Multan and generally in south Punjab, Rajwana said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had completed a number of health projects and several were about to accomplish in near future.

Multan-Lahore Motorway is about to open on May 21 while Multan-Islamabad Motorway will be inaugurated by the end of August this year, the governor said.

He advised the graduating students to put their gold medals in the laps of their mothers urging their parents to let them become useful citizens by contributing for the country.

"You owe to the country. You owe to common man.

You owe to your parents and teachers as well," the governor said adding that they were future of the country and he was satisfied that it was in the safe hands. As many 605 students of BS, MA, MSc and MPhil including 26 golden medalists were honoured at the convocation.

Earlier in her welcome address, WU Vice Chancellor Dr Talat Afza presented a detailed report of the university. She said that the university was progressing with the passage of time adding that within a short span of 5 years, it has turned from a sapling into a grown tree.

PML-N MPAs, Haji Ahsan Uddin Qureshi, Khola Amjad, Mrs Shumaila Aslam, VC MNSUA, Dr Asif Ali, Mayor Multan, Naveed Arain, ex-minister, Abdul Waheed Arain, Deans, Chairmen of Departments and parents attended the convocation.
