ISLAMABAD: To mark the Pakistan Day, a flag hoisting ceremony Friday took place at the Embassy of Pakistan in Brussels.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to Belgium, the European Union and Luxembourg, Naghmana Alamgir Hashmi raised the flag of Pakistan with national anthem playing in the background.
According to a press release, the ceremony was attended by Pakistani community in large number living in Belgium and Luxembourg with great zeal and fervour.
In her address Ambassador Hashmi appreciated the role of Pakistani diaspora. She said while we celebrate Pakistan Day in Belgium, the fervour of Pakistani community proves the love of diaspora for their country, even if they are away from their mother land.
She said now Pakistan is emerging as growing economy, it is important that overseas Pakistanis make investments in Pakistan rather than investing in other countries.
The messages of president and prime minister were read by Minister Economic Omar Hameed and Deputy Head of Mission Asif Hussain Memon respectively.
The ceremony was conducted by head of Chancery, Giyan Chand. Students from Ghent Saba Kazmi, Rida Kazmi and Nida Kazmi presented national songs on the occasion.
