After facing backlash, Jacqueline’s ‘Ek Do Teen’ remake to face legal action

Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez has garnered nothing but criticism ever since her version of the Madhuri Dixi

Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez has garnered nothing but criticism ever since her version of the Madhuri Dixit’s iconic song ‘Ek Do Teen’ has come out and now the song makers have landed themselves in legal trouble.

Fans of the old song have showed their anguish over the remake of the song on social media. Days after its release, choreographer of the original song Saroj Khan is also ready to take some legal action against them.

Jacqueline’s version of the 80s song has irked a lot of people including N. Chandra, the director of the original movie ‘Tezaab’ that featured the Madhuri’s iconic dance number. The director said he had no idea that ‘Baaghi 2’ makers were re-doing the famous song from his movie until the choreographer of the original song, Saroj told him about it.

“I met Saroj ji at Sridevi’s prayer meeting. It was there that she marched up to me to tell me about it. Can you imagine how much it had upset her that she needed to vent at such a solemn occasion?” asks Chandra. “Anyway, she came to me and said, ‘Have you seen what they are doing to our ‘Ek Do Teen’ number?’ And I had no clue! Saroj ji told me that the makers of ‘Baaghi 2’ were doing a new version of ‘Ek Do Teen’. She said she would take legal action against it,” Deccan Chronicles quoted the director.

Out of irritation, Chandra added, “I can’t believe they have done this to ‘Ek Do Teen’. It’s crass — beyond imagination. Madhuri Dixit danced with such grace and innocence. This number is like a sex act!”

On taking legal action against the filmmakers of the movie, he added, “Saroj ji and I are definitely taking action. Amit ji (Amitabh Bachchan) has rightly spoken about archaic copyright laws that allow such liberties to be taken. Can you imagine, Amit ji would have no rights over his father’s writings! What kind of laws allows people to do such things? We must be allowed to exercise some control over what we create.”
