Claiming that Panama case judgment against him was a weak one, deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Wednesday

Claiming that Panama case judgment against him was a weak one, deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Wednesday that the nation also disagreed with the verdict in disqualifying him.

Speaking to the media outside an accountability court, the former premier said that even his political opponent Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan had termed the decision weak. He said that those making the decisions should wonder whether their decisions will be accepted by everyone.

Sharif added that he respected the institutions and had even joined in a long march for the restoration of the judiciary. Sharif compared his case with PTI's Jahangir Tareen's case and said that even though he was disqualified, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had not filed references against him neither a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) was formed.

Nawaz Sharif claims PML-N has never indulged in horse-trading

Sharif's daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar appeared before the court for the corruption reference filed by NAB after the Panama Papers revelation. Sharif has been named in three graft references, Al-Azizia, Avenfiled and Flagship properties. Whereas, Maryam and Safdar have been named in Avenfiled properties.

Judge Muhammad Bashir hearing the case, adjourned the court proceedings till March 29, as the key witness did not turn up, local media reported. Wajid Zia former head of JIT has been recording his statement in the Avenfield properties reference against the Sharifs.
