KARACHI: Healthcare providers have urged masses to adopt simple lifestyle and inculcate healthy eating habits so as to protect themselves against series of diseases.
Addressing a seminar organized by Al Mustafa Welfare Society a panel of speakers comprising Dr. Khurram Daniyal, Dr. Nasir Jaffar, Dr. Shoaib Khan and Obaid A Hashmi took exception to rampant ignorance and disregard for healthy lifestyle among the people.
Dr. Khurram, referring to recent WHO report showing growing rise in the incidence of kidney related ailments among the local population, said high blood pressure has emerged to be the commonest contributory factor.
"High blood pressure or hypertension itself is largely caused due to stress as well as obesity consequent to unhealthy life style," he said reiterating that the two conditions can be easily managed through adequate realization of the associated risks.
Haji Hanif Tayyab, the Chairman, Al Mustafa Welfare society on the occasion highlighted the plight of people due to non availability of potable water in many parts the country.
"We need concerted efforts to ensure provision for clean and safe drinking water for the masses so as to protect them against series of ailments," he said.
Haji Hanif Tayyab also called upon the activists and volunteers to play their role in providing pollution free environment across the country and help safeguard public right to quality life.
