KARACHI: The Government of Indonesia has honoured prominent Pakistani businessman Abdul Rasheed JanMohammad with the prestigious Primaduta Award 2026 in recognition of his outstanding contribution to strengthening trade relations and fostering enduring business partnerships between Indonesia and Pakistan.

The award, conferred by Indonesia’s Minister of Trade, was presented to Jan Mohammad, Chief Executive Officer of MAPAK Edible Oils Private Limited, by Indonesian Consul General in Karachi Mudzakir during a dinner reception hosted in his honour at the Consulate General of Indonesia on Tuesday.

Jan Mohammad also heads Westbury Group and serves as CEO of the Pakistan Edible Oil Conference (PEOC), an international industry platform. He previously served as Chairman of the Pakistan Edible Oil Refiners Association (PEORA). His business interests span edible oil processing, storage and port logistics.

The reception brought together around 50 prominent Pakistani business leaders and entrepreneurs, including FPCCI Senior Vice President Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) President Talat Mahmood and businessman Basheer Jan Mohammad, brother of the award recipient, alongside representatives of trade associations and business partners, including the Pakistan Vanaspati Manufacturers Association (PVMA) and Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI).

The Consul General also highlighted the outcomes of Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2026, where a Sindh business delegation comprising more than 20 companies, facilitated by the Consulate, signed 14 Memoranda of Understanding and Letters of Intent with a combined potential value of USD9.4 million.

He stressed that the real success of such initiatives depended on translating commitments into actual business, investment and lasting partnerships.

Mudzakir reaffirmed Indonesia’s interest in strengthening two-way trade, including expanding opportunities for Pakistani products in the Indonesian market, industrial cooperation and joint ventures to generate shared economic benefits.

The reception also featured a Saman dance performance by Indonesian students in Karachi. Originating in Aceh, the traditional dance is known for its synchronised movements and dynamic rhythms.
