CM Punjab inaugurates ‘Nawaz Centre of Excellence for Special Education’
LAHORE: The first Nawaz Sharif Centre of Excellence for special children in Rawalpindi Division has been established, bringing a major facility for children with special needs to the remote area of Hassan Abdal.
The centre has formally commenced operations, with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif inaugurating the Nawaz Sharif Centre of Excellence for Special Education alongside differently-abled girls. Holding their hands, the chief minister entered the centre with them.
During her visit, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inspected specially designed classrooms for children with hearing and speech impairments. She observed the teaching methods being used for children with congenital physical disabilities and also visited the music room and activity room.
In the music room, the chief minister turned back from the doorway after hearing special student Sawaira sing “Akele Na Jana Humein Chhor Kar” and showered her with affection. The young girl also sang another song for Maryam Nawaz Sharif: “Shab-e-Gham Mujh Se Mil Kar Aisay Royi, Mila Ho Jaisay Sadiyon Baad Koi.”
The chief minister sat among the differently-abled children, sang a national song with them and individually extended her affection, prayers and blessings.
During an interaction in the classroom, a differently-abled child Sufyan innocently asked the chief minister for her WhatsApp number, bringing a smile to her face. The children also presented her with handmade cards.
The chief minister and other participants were deeply moved and could not hold back their tears while listening to a little child Ahmed Ali, who was born without arms and legs. The CM embraced Ahmed Ali and also posed for a photograph with him.
Ahmed Ali told the chief minister that when he was born, his parents cried, wondering how their child would be able to lead his life. Describing the differently-abled children as superheroes, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz praised their courage and resilience.
The chief minister also held a meeting with a girl who had suffered acid burns and her mother.
