Haleon Pakistan starts local manufacturing of Panadol 500mg tablets in Sindh

  • The locally manufactured Panadol 500mg tablets will feature a new design
Published Updated

Haleon Pakistan Limited, formerly known as GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare Pakistan Limited, has commenced manufacturing Panadol 500mg tablets at its Jamshoro facility, marking a shift towards in-house production of the popular pain relief medicine.

The company, which is primarily engaged in the manufacturing, marketing, and sale of consumer healthcare and over-the-counter (OTC) health products, disclosed the development in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Friday.

The development follows an investment of approximately $10 million (~PKR2.8 billion) announced in October 2023.

“This investment was undertaken to bring the latest manufacturing technology to Pakistan and to enhance the company’s production capacity,” read the notice.

As part of the transition, the locally manufactured Panadol 500mg tablets will feature a new design, with a beacon engraving replacing the existing ‘Panadol’ text engraving.

Haleon said the change was limited to the tablet’s appearance, adding that the product’s quality and efficacy would remain unchanged.

“The commencement of manufacturing of Panadol 500mg tablets at the company’s Jamshoro facility represents a significant milestone for Haleon Pakistan Limited as a major step forward in strengthening its in-house manufacturing capabilities, and bolstering the reliable availability of its products for consumers in Pakistan,” read the notice.

Haleon Pakistan has made significant investments to enhance its production capabilities and expand its product portfolio in recent years.

In January 2026, the company approved an investment of £3.58 million (approximately $4.9 million) to expand and modernise its Panadol Liquid packaging line, which includes Children’s Panadol Drops, Children’s Panadol Liquid, and Panadol Forte Suspension.

The company employs 450 people across the country and operates a manufacturing facility in Jamshoro, with regional sales offices in Multan, Lahore, and Islamabad.
