SHANGHAI: Japanese rubber futures fell on Thursday, tracking a pullback in oil prices and weakening cost support as Thai raw material supply entered its seasonal increase.

The Osaka Exchange (OSE) rubber contract for April delivery was down 1.6 yen, or 0.36 percent, at 445 yen (USD2.82) per kg.

The rubber contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) for January delivery fell 410 yuan, or 2.1 percent, to 19,155 yuan (USD2,873.54) per metric ton.

The most active December butadiene rubber contract on the SHFE rose 115 yuan, or 0.69 percent, to 16,840 yuan per metric ton. Oil prices fell on Thursday, paring gains made a day earlier, as hopes for peace talks took the edge off renewed concerns over Middle East supply disruptions from escalating regional conflict. Natural rubber often takes direction from oil prices as it competes for market share with synthetic rubber, which is made from crude oil. Top producer Thailand’s raw materials entered a seasonal increase in October, weakening cost support, said analysts from broker GF Futures in a note.

The price of Thailand’s benchmark export-grade smoked rubber sheet (RSS3) was down 0.36 percent at 95.39 baht per kg, while the price of block rubber was steady at 87.4 baht per kg.

Cambodia’s cumulative rubber exports reached 299,000 tons in the first eight months of 2026, up 11.6 percent from 268,000 tons a year earlier, with China, Singapore, Vietnam and Malaysia as the main destinations, data from rubber information provider Qinrex showed.

The front-month rubber contract on Singapore Exchange’s SICOM platform for January delivery last traded at 245.4 US cents per kg, down 1.7 percent as of 0700 GMT.
