‘Endless occupation’

Published Updated

This is apropos two back-to-back letters to the Editor titled ‘Endless occupation’ carried by the newspaper on Wednesday and yesterday.

The continuing loss of Palestinian lives, alongside the destruction of homes and civilian infrastructure, underscores the fact that despite declaration of ceasefire Israeli violence continues to take an enormous death toll across Gaza.

The killing of Palestinians, destruction of homes and memorials, and military-backed settler violence in the West Bank form part of a broader reality of occupation in which Palestinian civilians remain exposed to violence, displacement and dispossession.

International community’s silence or selective outrage only deepens the sense of impunity surrounding these crimes and leaves Palestinians with little protection against the continuing consequences of occupation.

Until the world confronts the root cause of the conflict—occupation—rather than merely reacting to its latest consequences, the cycle of bloodshed, resistance and reprisal will continue.
