Saim Ayub released from Pakistan ODI squad

  • Sahibzada Farhan joins the squad in his stead
Published Updated

Pakistan opener Saim Ayub has been released from the national men’s ODI squad for the remainder of the ongoing tri-series, with Sahibzada Farhan named as his replacement, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said on Monday.

According to a PCB press release, Ayub requested to return to domestic cricket to work on his batting form and regain confidence after a conversation with the head coach.

The team management and national selection committee accepted his request, respecting his decision and appreciating his honest assessment of his current form, the board said.

The national selection committee subsequently named Farhan as Ayub’s replacement for the remainder of the tri-series.

Pakistan have already qualified for the final after securing three consecutive wins in the tournament.

The team will face Sri Lanka in the fifth match of the tri-series at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Tuesday, October 27.
