KARACHI: The Karachi administration has stepped up citywide action against encroachments, illegal parking, fire safety violations and professional begging.
Assistant Commissioner Nazimabad Rabia Syed sealed Paposh Market, comprising more than 200 shops, for violating fire safety regulations.
On Tariq Road, Assistant Commissioner Ferozabad Javeria Ashraf arrested nine people for illegally collecting parking fees. FIRs were registered against them.
Assistant Commissioner Aram Bagh Usama bin Ashraf arrested seven beggars and drug addicts on Burns Road, including a transgender person and two drug addicts disguised as a clown. They were handed over to the police.
Separately, 46 professional beggars were arrested in Ferozabad subdivision and handed over to the Edhi welfare organisation.
Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi directed deputy commissioners to remove roadside encroachments, ease traffic congestion and prevent cleared areas from being occupied again. Operations are continuing across the city under district administrations.
