Pakistanis rescued from MT Honour 25 to leave for Karachi on Oct 7

Published Updated

The three remaining Pakistani crew members of MT Honour 25 – Imran Ali, Muhammad Yasin and Syed Husain Yousuf – have been successfully rescued and flown to Addis Ababa, according to the Embassy of Pakistan in Djibouti.

The crew members were accompanied by a team from the Embassy of Pakistan in Djibouti and will be received in Addis Ababa before departing for Pakistan on the first available Ethiopian Airlines flight to Karachi, expected on October 7.

Pakistan expressed gratitude to the Government of Somalia and the European Union Naval Force (EUNAVFOR) Operation Atalanta, which was present in the vicinity of MT Honour 25, for their assistance and cooperation in securing the release of the crew.

The development comes after four other injured Pakistani crew members rescued from the hijacked vessel, along with the remains of three colleagues who died in the incident, arrived in Karachi on Sunday.

Pakistan said it remained committed to strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation to combat maritime piracy and safeguard the security and freedom of international maritime routes.
