ISLAMABAD: The All-Pakistan Goods Transporters Association has given the government an ultimatum to approve its charter of demands and announced a countrywide transport strike from October 10, 2026.

The announcement was made following a meeting chaired by Nabeel Mehmood Tariq, president of the association.

In a statement issued after a meeting, transporters demanded the immediate release of containers and vehicles allegedly detained during protests and sit-ins.

They also called for affected owners to be paid compensation of between Rs.20,000 and Rs.35,000.

The transporters urged authorities to stop what they described as unnecessary fines and harassment of vehicles stopped on roads over sales tax invoices.

They also called for an immediate and substantial reduction in diesel prices, citing the continued rise in operating costs across the country.

Transport leaders said federal and provincial governments had failed to implement commitments made during previous strikes and negotiations, leaving the transport industry facing a severe crisis.

They warned that if their concerns were not addressed before 10 October 2026, the movement of commercial goods across the country would be brought to a complete halt.
