Pakistan condemns Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia

  • Islamabad terms attacks 'flagrant violation' of Kingdom's sovereignty, territorial integrity
Published Updated

Pakistan on Tuesday strongly condemned attacks carried out by the Houthis against civilian and economic targets in Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistan termed the attacks a “flagrant violation” of the Kingdom’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, warning that they pose a threat to regional peace and stability and undermine efforts to secure a durable resolution to the conflict in Yemen.

Pakistan reiterated its “unwavering support” for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, security and prosperity of Saudi Arabia, and expressed complete solidarity with the Kingdom’s leadership, government and people. It also conveyed sincere wishes for the swift and full recovery of all those injured in the attacks.

The statement said that, consistent with the UN Charter and international law, Pakistan fully supports Saudi Arabia’s legitimate right to take all necessary measures to defend its territory, protect its citizens and residents, and safeguard its national assets against any threat.

It added that it has been, and will continue to make efforts toward achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.
