FAISALABAD: President Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI), Farooq Yousuf Sheikh has warmly welcomed Pakistan’s historic election as the Chair of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation for the 2026-27 term, calling it a monumental diplomatic triumph for the nation.
He paid glowing tribute to Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif for his exceptional statesmanship and robust representation of Pakistan at the SCO meeting in Bishkek.
“Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s visionary leadership and articulate presentation of Pakistan’s stance on regional stability, economic connectivity, and climate resilience have elevated the country’s stature on the global stage,” he said and emphasised that this milestone is a direct result of the Prime Minister’s relentless diplomatic efforts to rebuild international partnerships and position of Pakistan as a crucial hub for regional cooperation.
Farooq Yousuf Sheikh said that assuming the SCO chairmanship for the first time since becoming a full member is a testament to the international community’s trust in Pakistan’s leadership. He expressed full confidence that under the guided vision of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Pakistan will successfully steer the SCO toward shared prosperity, technological innovation, and stronger regional bonds during his tenure.
