Security challenges: Modern weapons, advanced technologies needed: Naval chief
ISLAMABAD: Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf has stressed the need to maintain round-the-clock combat readiness and acquire modern weapons and technology to counter emerging maritime security challenges, as the Pakistan Navy reviewed conventional and non-conventional threats in the maritime domain.
The Naval chief made the remarks while chairing the Pakistan Navy’s Command and Staff Conference, which reviewed the prevailing maritime security environment, including the security situation around strategic chokepoints.
The conference discussed conventional and non-conventional threats facing the maritime domain and assessed the Pakistan Navy’s preparedness to respond to evolving security challenges.
Admiral Naveed Ashraf said the acquisition of modern weapons and advanced technologies was essential to effectively address emerging maritime security challenges.
The conference also highlighted Pakistan Navy’s key role in promoting regional peace, stability and maritime security.
The Naval chief was briefed on the Navy’s ongoing and future projects as well as measures aimed at strengthening its operational capabilities.
Admiral Naveed Ashraf expressed satisfaction over the Pakistan Navy’s operational preparedness for the defence of the country’s maritime frontiers and directed that a high level of combat readiness be maintained at all times.
