BAGH: The unofficial results for both constituencies in Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s Bagh division have been finalised following re-polling at 23 polling stations.

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidate Sardar Zia-ul-Qamar won constituency LA-15 Bagh-II, while Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Sardar Mir Akbar Khan secured victory in LA-16 Bagh-III.

In LA-15, counting was completed after re-polling at nine polling stations.

Zia-ul-Qamar defeated his closest rival, PML-N’s Raja Mushtaq Minhas, by a margin of 1,900 votes.

Before the re-polling, Zia-ul-Qamar was leading with 16,637 votes, followed by Raja Mushtaq Minhas with 15,015 votes.

Jamaat-e-Islami candidate former Brigadier Raja Muhammad Khan was in third place with more than 12,000 votes.

A total of 5,032 voters were eligible to cast their ballots at the nine polling stations where re-polling was held.

In LA-16 Bagh-III, re-polling was completed at 14 polling stations, after which PML-N candidate Sardar Mir Akbar Khan was declared the winner with 20,793 votes.

PPP candidate Sardar Qamar-ul-Zaman Khan finished second.

Before the re-polling, Mir Akbar Khan was leading with 18,950 votes, while Qamar-ul-Zaman Khan had secured 15,750 votes.

A total of 7,238 voters were eligible to vote at the 14 polling stations where re-polling took place.

With the completion of re-polling in the two Bagh constituencies, the PPP and PML-N have won one seat each.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has issued notifications confirming the victories of successful candidates in AJK Legislative Assembly constituencies LA-14 and LA-17.

Sajid Iqbal of Jammu and Kashmir Awami Dast-o-Bazu has been declared the winner from LA-14 West Bagh, while a notification confirming PPP’s Faisal Mumtaz Rathore as the winner of LA-17 Haveli has also been issued.
