ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday welcomed the trilateral defence agreement signed in Makkah, describing it as a significant step towards strengthening regional and global peace, security and stability.
In a statement, the President said the agreement represented an important development for regional and global peace, security and stability, while reaffirming the shared commitment of the three nations to a secure, stable and prosperous future.
He praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their role in making the landmark agreement possible, describing their efforts as commendable.
President Zardari said the agreement also marked a significant milestone in deepening strategic partnership among the three countries.
He expressed hope that Allah Almighty would bless the historic agreement with success and prayed for the security, lasting peace and prosperity of the Muslim Ummah.
