Sindh schools to remain closed on August 4 for Chehlum

The Sindh government has declared August 4 a holiday for all public and private educational institutions in the province for Chehlum of Imam Hussain (R.A), based on a prior committee resolution.

The Sindh government has announced that all public and private educational institutions in the province will remain closed on August 4 on account of Chehlum of Imam Hussain (R.A).
According to a notification issued by the School Education & Literacy Department, Government of Sindh, the decision was taken in pursuance of a resolution passed in a meeting of the Steering Committee held on February 12.
The notification directs that all schools working under the administrative control of the department shall observe the holiday.
The order has been circulated to key stakeholders for implementation, including the Principal Secretaries to the Governor and Chief Minister of Sindh, the Chief Secretary’s office, the Directors of School Education, the Directorate General of Inspection & Registration of Private Institutions, and the chairmen of Boards of Secondary and Intermediate Education across Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpurkhas and Shaheed Benazirabad.
The Director Press & Publication has also been asked to ensure the notification is published in leading newspapers and through electronic media, while the Sindh Education Foundation and other departmental officials have been directed to circulate it among all educational institutions for compliance.
