Govt appoints Humaira Zia Mufti as PECO chairperson

Pakistan Engineering Company Ltd. (PECO) said on Monday that Humaira Zia Mufti was appointed as Ex-Officio Director/ Chairman of Pakistan Engineering Company (PECO) with immediate effect to represent the Government of Pakistan on the PECO Board.

The company announced in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange today.

The government also issued a notification which read, “The Secretary, Ministry of Industries and Production, has been pleased to nominate Humaira Zia Mufti, Additional Secretary (AS-I), Ministry of Industries and Production, as Ex-Officio Director/ Chairman Pakistan Engineering Company (PECO) with immediate effect to represent the Government of Pakistan on PECO Board.”

PECO is a publicly listed company primarily involved in the manufacturing and sale of engineering products. It was established in 1950 as Batala Engineering Company (BECO) and later renamed PECO in 1972 after being taken over by the government as part of nationalisation reforms.

The company’s manufacturing plant, originally in Badami Bagh, Lahore, was relocated to the Kot Lakhpat industrial zone in Lahore in 2002, with unprofitable segments being closed down.
