LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, in her special message on Kashmir Accession to Pakistan Day, said that on July 19, 1947, the people of the erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir adopted a historic resolution in favour of accession to Pakistan.
She said the Resolution for Accession to Pakistan stands as clear evidence that the hearts of the Kashmiri people have always beat with Pakistan.
The Chief Minister said that a peaceful settlement of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the United Nations Security Council resolutions remains the only guarantee for protecting the rights of the Kashmiri people and ensuring peace and stability in the region.
Maryam Nawaz said that the Government and people of Pakistan would continue to extend diplomatic, moral and political support to the people of Kashmir. She added that Pakistan would continue to raise its voice at every forum for securing the legitimate rights of Kashmiris subjected to Indian oppression. She noted that the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir have been waiting for their internationally recognized right to self-determination for decades.
The Chief Minister paid tribute to the struggle, sacrifices and steadfast courage of the oppressed Kashmiri brothers and sisters, expressing confidence that the day would surely come when the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir would be able to determine their own future in accordance with their aspirations.
