LAHORE: Director General Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control Punjab, Umar Sher Chattha, has said that the Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control Department Punjab delivered an exceptional performance during the fiscal year 2025–26 by achieving record revenue collection. The department collected more than Rs. 75.34 billion in taxes, achieving 98 percent of its assigned revenue target. The collection is 35 percent higher than that of the previous fiscal year.
Sharing details of the department’s performance, the Director General said that Motor Vehicle Tax collection increased by 46 percent, Property Tax by 26 percent, Tax on Abutting Highways by 41 percent, Professional Tax by 17 percent, and Excise Duty by 12 percent during FY 2025–26.
Umar Sher Chattha said that this is the highest revenue collection in the history of the Excise & Taxation Department, reflecting the dedication and hard work of the entire departmental team, which deserves appreciation for this outstanding achievement. He expressed confidence that the department would successfully achieve its Rs. 124 billion revenue target during the current fiscal year as well. He said that additional facilities and greater convenience would be provided to taxpayers, the tax base would be broadened, reforms in the tax administration would continue, transparency would be further strengthened, and the crackdown against tax evaders would be intensified.
The Director General further stated that the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for tax reforms and the promotion of e-governance is highly commendable. He said that her reform agenda has strengthened public confidence in the taxation system and restored trust in government institutions.
