LAHORE: Secretary Agriculture Punjab Iftikhar Ali Sahoo has said that every possible effort is being made to achieve cotton production more than the target assigned to Agriculture Department Punjab.
The Secretary Agriculture said this while chairing a review meeting at Multan on the cotton crop. The meeting was attended by the relevant officers of the agriculture and irrigation departments.
He said that according to field reports, the current condition of the cotton crop in Punjab is satisfactory.
Iftikhar Ali Sahoo directed the officers of the Agriculture and Irrigation Departments to maintain close liaison to ensure the timely availability of canal water for cotton crop.
Later on, Secretary Agriculture Punjab Iftikhar Ali Sahoo attended ceremony held to distribute laptops among Agriculture (Extension) officers as chief guest.
Addressing the officers, he said that, for the first time in the history of the Agriculture Department, 400 laptops are being provided to the field formations.
He further said that the provision of laptops aims to modernize agricultural extension services, while the availability of IT facilities will certainly improve service delivery.
