Iran-US technical talks: PM Shehbaz, Field Marshal Asim Munir depart for Switzerland

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir are set to participate in high-level technical talks scheduled to take place in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, today (Sunday).
The discussions are being held as a follow-up to the recently signed Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which laid the foundation for enhanced cooperation and dialogue between the US and Iran.
According to officials, the technical-level talks are expected to focus on the implementation framework of the understandings reached under the Islamabad MoU.
Senior officials and experts from the participating sides will engage in detailed discussions aimed at translating the commitments outlined in the agreement into practical and actionable measures.
The participation of both the Prime Minister Sharif and Field Marshal Munir underscores the importance Pakistan attaches to the dialogue process and reflects the country’s commitment to advancing the objectives agreed upon in the memorandum.
Their presence is also expected to provide strategic guidance during the discussions and facilitate decision-making on key issues under consideration between Iran and the US.

Burgenstock, known for hosting several international diplomatic engagements and negotiations, will serve as the venue for the one-day meeting.
