LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday dismissed a petition of bar member, Talib Hussain, challenging the loan agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The petitioner argued that Pakistani citizens had not obtained any loan personally and, therefore, could not be held liable for repaying IMF debt. The court noted that the petition was based on alleged information circulating on social media.
The court said the record also shows that the IMF has not demanded repayment of the loan directly from the petitioner or any individual Pakistani citizen.
The court, therefore, dismissed the petition for being not maintainable.
