Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar addressed members of the Pakistani-American community during an Eid dinner reception hosted at the Consulate General of Pakistan in New York on Wednesday.

According to the Foreign Office, the event was attended by prominent Pakistani-American community leaders and professionals, where Dar highlighted key moments in Pakistan’s national history, regional role, and economic outlook.

Speaking on the occasion, Dar said the month of May holds historic significance for Pakistan, recalling the country’s nuclear tests conducted on May 28, 1998 under former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, which he said demonstrated Pakistan’s resolve and established its position in global security affairs.

The deputy prime minister also paid tribute to Pakistan’s armed forces and citizens for what he described as their resilience and unity during the events of May 2025. He praised the leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu, and Admiral Naveed Ashraf for their role during the period.

Dar said Pakistan, under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, continues to play a constructive role in promoting regional and global peace while maintaining a strong commitment to stability and diplomacy.

Highlighting the government’s economic agenda, he pointed to declining inflation, improving credit ratings, strengthening external accounts, and rising investor confidence as signs of economic recovery. He added that the government is pursuing an export-led growth strategy aimed at boosting foreign exchange reserves, generating employment, and integrating Pakistan further into global supply chains.

Commending the Pakistani-American diaspora, Dar described overseas Pakistanis as one of the country’s greatest assets in strengthening bilateral ties, advocacy, and investment opportunities. He encouraged the community to invest in Pakistan and contribute to the country’s future development.
