LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Monday announced the schedule of the President’s Trophy Grade-II Gold, which is set to begin from today across Abbottabad, Haripur, Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
The tournament, which serves as qualification pathway for the first-class President’s Trophy Grade-I and List-A President’s Cup, has been split into Gold and Silver tiers for the first time, with 14 top ranked of the 27 teams from the previous edition are set to be in the Gold tier.
A total of 10 teams will take part in the Silver tier of the tournament scheduled to start from Monday. The winner and runners up of the Silver will be promoted to Gold tier, while that of the Gold will move up to the Grade-I first-class and List-A tournaments.
Winner of the President’s Trophy Grade-II Gold will bag a cash prize of PKR five million while the runners-up will get PKR 2.5 million. Player of the final will be awarded PKR 100,000, while player of the tournament, best batter, bowler and wicket-keeper will pocket PKR 50,000 each.
The President’s Trophy Grade II Gold comprises of two pools with seven teams in each of them. Pool-A comprises of Eshaal Associates, JDW Sugar Mills, MIT Solutions, PHA Rawalpindi, Railways, Ahmed Glass and Kingsmen Academy.
The Pool-B consists of Higher Education Commission (HEC), Kingsmen, Wing 999 Sports, Ghani institute, Sardar Group, Port Qasim and Vital Tea.
Pool-A matches will take place at Railway Cricket Stadium, Haripur, Abbottabad Cricket Stadium and National Cricket Ground in Islamabad. Pool-B matches are scheduled to be played at Diamond Cricket Ground, Islamabad, Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi and Marghzar Cricket Ground in Islamabad.
Each team will play six non-first-class three-day matches in their pool from 12th May to 11th June before the top two teams in each of the pool progress to the semi-finals, which are set to be staged from 14th to 16th June. The final of the tournament is set to be played from 18th to 21st June. The venues for the semi-finals and final will be confirmed in due course.
In the single-league round-robin stage, a total of seven rounds will take place in the tournament with six matches scheduled in each round.
