LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly Secretariat has saved Rs770 million under a government-led austerity campaign and surrendered the amount to the national exchequer on the directions of Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan.
The savings were achieved through a series of cost-cutting measures, including salary deductions from Members of the Punjab Assembly and a two-day salary contribution from officers in Grade-20 and above.
Fuel expenses for official vehicles were reduced by 50 percent, while more than 111,000 electricity units were saved within two months.
