HYDERABAD: The 21st Annual Convocation of Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences Jamshoro along with 2nd Convocation of Bilawal Medical College Jamshoro was held on 25th April 2026 at LUMHS Campus Jamshoro.
While delivering the welcome speech, the Vice Chancellor LUMHS Prof. Dr Ikram Din Ujjan expressed that the graduation ceremony is the most significant and meaningful occasion in the University’s calendar. Today, 1435 graduates and 272 postgraduates will be awarded degrees and diplomas for their achievements. It means a total number of 1707 Liaquatians will soar a new flight for another journey.
He added that the convocation is the most cherished academic event for every student. Today their hard work is rewarded and they are granted permission to enter the noble profession of Medicine and to practice their acquired knowledge and skills for the benefit of the society.
The Vice Chancellor offered his gratitude to Honourable Minister Universities & Boards Sindh, Muhammad Ismail Rahoo, for accepting the invitation to grace as the Chief Guest for the Convocation. He added that what can be a better proof of his commitment to education and specially health, and his love for Liaquat University that he has graced the occasion of LUMHS convocation, which shows his love and affection for this university, its faculty and students.
Prof. Ikram Din Ujjan further expressed that if we glance over just last few years there has been a marvellous progress made by Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences, Today he feels proud that our premiere institution stands in the row of world class universities. I am confident that the LUMHS faculty will continue their efforts to coup up with the future challenges in Medical Education and Healthcare.
Establishment of Bilawal Medical College for Boys has balanced the disequilibrium between male and female ratio of admissions in medical colleges.
Creation of Liaquat Institute of Medical & Health Sciences District Thatta within a shortest period of time is a revolutionary step to provide Modern Health facilities to the ailing community of that area as well as delivering quality education to the students enrolled there.
LUMHS services Hospital is another milestone achieved by this University with an aim to provide health care facilities to the un-well community of interior part of the province, this modern hospital shall cater the facilities for which the diseased people have to visit Karachi for their treatment and certain investigations. The Chief Guest Muhammad Ismail Rahoo, Minister Universities & Boards, Sindh expressed that he is pleased for being invited as a chief guest on this auspicious occasion of 21st Convocation of LUMHS by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ikram Din Ujjan and is thankful to him for providing the opportunity to address this august gathering.
Addressing the graduates and the postgraduates, he expressed that Medical profession has been always commanding and demanding. Commanding in sense that this profession deals with human life and thus have an over edge on all other professions. You are the fellows who can upgrade the quality of life of people by utilizing your expertise with humble attitude and sympathetic behaviour. Your perfect attention can save a life and a little negligence may harm one thus every step taken by you must be perfect and above all gratifying for the patients, community, nation and country thus demanding.
He further added that People’s government has been always striving to promote health and education on top priority whether it is opening new medical colleges, hospitals, upgrading health delivery system or creating jobs for our youth.
It is worth mentioning that in the year 2008 the total number of Universities in Sindh was 11, since then the present government of Pakistan Peoples’ Party has established more than 16 Universities in the province which is a proof that delivering Higher education is on the top priority of the present government.
Establishment of several Medical Universities in the province and network of National Institute of Cardiovascular Disease in various districts of Sindh are glowing examples of the commitment of the Peoples Government of Sindh towards higher medical education and delivery of health facilities to the doorstep of the people of Sindh, under the dynamic leadership of His Highness Asif Ali Zardari, President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman Pakistan Peoples’ Party.
