KARACHI: Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nihal Hashmi met Bangladesh High Commissioner Mohammad Iqbal Hussain Khan at the Governor House on Sunday.
They discussed bilateral ties and explored avenues to enhance trade and cooperation between the two countries. Deputy High Commissioner Mohammad Saqib Sadaqat was also present.
The Bangladesh HC congratulated Hashmi on assuming office as Governor.
The two sides held detailed discussions on strengthening Pakistan-Bangladesh relations, particularly in trade and economic collaboration. They agreed that Pakistan and Bangladesh shared common interests and must enhance coordination to address regional challenges.
Highlighting trade dynamics, the High Commissioner said Bangladesh imports coal, limestone, chemicals, leather, fertiliser and cement raw materials from Pakistan.
Hashmi emphasised the need to further promote educational and cultural exchange programmes, noting that the two countries share deep similarities in cuisine, culture and heritage.
The Deputy High Commissioner said bilateral trade volume has surpassed USD800 million and was growing at a steady pace of around 20percent.
The Governor also pointed to the strong global demand for Pakistan’s surgical instruments, and leather products, underlining the potential for expanding exports.
Both sides agreed to further strengthen cooperation in trade, investment and other sectors of mutual interest.
