ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Iran on Saturday underscored the importance of sustained dialogue, emphasising that regional peace and stability are essential for economic cooperation and shared progress.
The remarks came during a meeting between Dr Abdolnasser Hemmati, governor of the Central Bank of Iran, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, on the sidelines of the ongoing Islamabad talks.
Dr Hemmati is in Islamabad as part of the Iranian delegation engaging with the US negotiating team, led by Vice President JD Vance, in efforts to bring an end to hostilities following a two-week ceasefire brokered by Pakistan.
Earlier, a high-powered delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran led by Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf along with Foreign Minister of Islamic Republic of Iran Abbas Araghchi arrived in Islamabad late on Friday night to participate in Islamabad Talks.
The Iranian delegation was warmly received by Deputy Prime Minister/ Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar along with Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Chief of Defence Forces & Chief of Army Staff Field Marshall Syed Asim Munir and Minister for Interior Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi upon arrival at Nur Khan Airbase Islamabad.
Ishaq Dar expressed hope that parties would engage constructively, reiterating Pakistan’s desire to continue facilitating the parties towards reaching a lasting and durable solution to the conflict.
