LAHORE: Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) for industries Haroon Akhtar Khan said on Saturday that tensions between the US and Iran could have caused a global catastrophe and in this critical situation, Pakistan raised its voice for a balance, restraint, and dialogue.

Addressing the launching ceremony of Sazgar Motors’ EV Tank, here at Expo Centre, he added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Pakistan demonstrated effective diplomacy.

The key moments in history are decided not on the battlefield but at the negotiating table, as Islamabad talks is a symbol of peace, trust and mutual respect, he remarked.

SAPM Haroon Akhtar said that Pakistan faced global challenges with wisdom and determination in difficult circumstances, and now it has emerged as a strong, responsible and strategic global power, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif is working day and night to address the threat of energy crisis, and a comprehensive strategy has been formulated to provide relief to the public despite rising oil prices, he said, citing, “This is real leadership, which is proven not just by words but by practical actions. Pakistan’s efforts reduced tensions and promoted global peace, and these steps further strengthened Pakistan’s global image and reputation.”

Haroon Akhtar was if the view that true leadership lies in preventing conflict with strength as well as wisdom. Pakistan is creating a new story of economic recovery at home, along with global leadership.

He said, “We are moving beyond short-term measures to long-term reforms. There is a clear vision to make Pakistan a competitive industrial economy.”

The National Industrial Policy, he said, is a comprehensive blueprint for industrial development and revitalization. A conducive environment is being provided for empowering SMEs and doing business, while the government would be a facilitator and the private sector would be the engine of development, he said, asserting that unnecessary laws are being eliminated through the regulatory measures.
