ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has announced on Friday a visa-free entry for delegates and journalists arriving for the US-Iran talks commencing on Saturday (today).

The move is seen as a step to facilitate smoother diplomatic engagement for the upcoming high-level negotiations. Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi clarified while responding to media queries on travel protocols for such an important diplomatic huddle.

According to the official statement simultaneously issued by Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Interior, the visa waiver is strictly limited to delegates and journalists from the two primary participating nations, Iran and the United States. Nationals from any third country will not be entertained, the notification stated. This facility is temporary and will remain in effect only for the duration of the talks. The spokesperson highlighted that third-country nationals must continue to follow standard visa application procedures for arrival to Pakistan.

The initiative is intended to eliminate administrative hurdles for those directly involved in the mediation process. Eligible travelers are expected to be processed upon arrival at designated entry points, ensuring the focus remains on the diplomatic proceedings.
