Sri Lankan shares record best week in more than 15 months

Sri Lankan shares closed higher on Friday aided by gains across sectors, clocking their sharpest weekly gain in over 15 months.
The CSE All Share index settled up 1.3% at 22,128.66.
The index rose 4.8% for the week, its strongest showing since the seven-day period ended December 27, 2024.
Hikkaduwa Beach Resort PLC and Serendib Land PLC were the top percentage gainers on the index, rising 24.4% and 15.2%, respectively.
Trading volumes rose to 261.7 million shares from 133.3 million in the previous session, according to exchange data.
The equity market’s turnover rose to 5.02 billion Sri Lankan rupees ($15.9 million) from 2.97 billion rupees in the previous session.
Foreign investors were net sellers, offloading stocks worth 276.8 million rupees, while domestic investors were net buyers, purchasing shares worth 4.82 billion rupees.
