ISLAMABAD: The opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday welcomed the announcement of a two-week ceasefire between Iran and the United States, urging both sides to adhere strictly to its terms.
In a statement, the party expressed hope that the temporary truce would pave the way for a permanent ceasefire and the restoration of long-term peace and stability in the region.
“PTI’s position has always been clear, consistent, and principled: we advocate for peace and dialogue over war and destruction,” the statement said.
“History has repeatedly shown that military confrontations result in widespread devastation, prolonged instability, and the tragic loss of innocent lives.”
The party also acknowledged the efforts of all mediators involved in facilitating the ceasefire and called on stakeholders to build on this development to achieve a comprehensive and enduring resolution that ensures regional security.
