LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Information and Culture, Azma Bokhari, has said that the prices of fruits, vegetables, and pulses across Punjab are fully under control. Despite the increase in petroleum prices, there has been no significant negative impact on the prices of essential food items so far.
In her statement, the provincial minister clarified that Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, is personally overseeing price control measures. She added that teams from the Price Control Department and PERA are actively conducting field operations to ensure that food items are being sold at officially notified rates in markets.
Azma Bokhari stated unequivocally that the government will not tolerate profiteering or hoarding under any circumstances. She emphasized that, under the clear directives of the Chief Minister, the benefits of government relief packages must reach the grassroots level, as Maryam Nawaz Sharif is committed to providing maximum relief to the common citizen.
The minister further added that the Punjab government is closely monitoring the inflation situation and utilizing all available resources to ensure the provision of essential commodities at affordable prices to the public.
